San Antonio is considered as the second most populated city in the state of Texas and the 7th most populated within the whole of the United States of America. The city was named after a saint, particularly St. Anthony of Padua and is presently one of the favorite tourist destinations in the United States. The Alamodome is located within the downtown south eastern area of San Antonio. This domed multi-purpose venue place is essentially utilized as a convention center, a basketball and football stadium. Opened to the public in 1993, this facility can seat an approximate of 65,000 spectators and can expand to up to 72,000 during super bowl games. The Alamodome also houses 6,000 club seats and 38 luxury seats. In addition to this, the dome houses two Olympic sized ice rinks which are used during National Hockey League games as well as speed skating and figure skating competitions.
The Freeman Coliseum, also known as the Joe and Harry Freeman Coliseum, was built in 1949 and is also located within the city of San Antonio. Through the years, this concert and sports venue has hosted numerous events such as trade shows, concerts, a variety of sports events and many more. At one point, it played host to the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo. The coliseum is able to accommodate an approximate of 11,700 people during concerts, 9,800 during basketball games and about 9,500 during rodeos and other similar events.
