Memphis, a city located within the State of Tennessee, is the largest city within the state. It is also home to the second largest metropolitan area within Tennessee, coming in at second from Nashville.

One of the more popular events place in the city of Memphis is the FedEx Forum, conveniently found within the downtown area of the city. This arena is presently the home of a variety of sports teams such as the Men’s Basketball Team (NCAA Division I) of the University of Memphis and the National Basketball Association’s Memphis Grizzlies. The FedEx Forum was first opened to the public in 2004 and naming rights were bought by FedEx. Asides from hosting sports events, this arena is also host to a variety of family shows, concerts and other sports games such as ice hockey.
Located along South Main Street, the Orpheum Theatre is considered as one of the remaining 1920’s movie palaces. Built in 1928, this famous theatre plays host to a variety of music performances such as concerts and Broadway shows. What makes the theater unique is the rumors of two ghosts residing inside the theater. These ghosts are said to be friendly and never harm the guests of the theater. During the 1980’s the Orpheum Theatre was renovated and several areas, such as the technical areas and furnishings were improved. At present, the theatre is able to seat about 2,000 people.
Another famous events place within the city of Memphis is The New Daisy Theatre. This events place is conveniently located in the historical Beale Street, home to other popular and historical places and is known as the birthplace of musical genres such as rock n’ roll and the blues. The New Daisy Theatre is an all-ages venue place unless otherwise stated.
