Chicago, also known as the “Windy City” is considered to be one of the most populated cities in the United States. The city’s metropolitan area, also called Chicagoland, is also one of the largest in the country, being the third largest after Los Angeles and New York City. Formerly known as the Lasalle Bank Theatre as well as the Majestic Theatre and Sam Shubert Theatre, this venue is conveniently located in the downtown area of Chicago on West Monroe Street. For those who appreciate musicals, this theatre is host to a variety of touring Broadway performances. First known as the Majestic Theatre, this theatre was opened to the public sometime in 1906 and began hosting several Vaudeville acts several times a day.
Another venue which holds a series of happening events in Chicago is Soldier Field. Located on the south side of Chicago, this football stadium is home to the Chicago Bears and has been so since 1971. It is also considered to be the smallest stadium included in the NFL and can sit an approximate of 61,500 people. This stadium was first established in order to commemorate fallen American soldiers who have lost their lives in various wars. It first opened on the 24th of October 1924 as the Municipal Grand Park Stadium. In 1925, the name was officially changed to Soldier Field.
The United Center, named after United Airlines, is a famous indoor sports arena found in Chicago. This sports arena is home to a variety of sports groups such as the Chicago Blackhawks and the Chicago Bulls. Asides from sports events such as the NBA and NHL, the center also hosts a variety of concert events as well as musical performances. Some of these performances have included Disney on Ice and Cirque du Soleil. In 1996, the United Center had become the venue for the Democratic National Convention, an event wherein the Democratic Party had announced Bill Clinton and Al Gore as their presidential and vice-presidential candidates, respectively.
