The summertime home of the Cleveland Orchestra since its opening in 1968, the Blossom Music Center takes its name from a former president of the orchestra from 1936 to 1938. Tucked into more than 800 acres of beautiful woodland, it is designed to integrate beautifully with its surroundings and features a pavilion designed by Peter Van Dijk. Part of the Cuyahoga Valley National Park, it is only ten miles from Akron, OH and less than 35 miles from Cleveland.
Popular for rock, jazz, pop, country, blues and classical performances, it is also home to many festivals and events. It is described as a "place some of the best musicians in the world can't seem to stay away from" and seats around 23,000. The entire venue was renovated in 2003, and there are 5,700 seats in the pavilion and more than 13,000 seats on the lovely, expansive lawn. Video screens and enhanced sound make every seat a great one.
Picnicking on the lawn is one of the joys of attending an event here and though food is allowed only in small, see-through bags, most attendees prefer to purchase the concession's gourmet boxed dinners. There is also the Blossom Grille which provides gourmet meals along with spirits, beers and wine options. On the grounds, there is also an art gallery as well as expansive gardens.
Parking is available in two locations and depends on the ticket purchased, paved parking is for pavilion ticket holders and grass parking is for lawn tickets. There are also premier parking passes available in addition to VIP parking.
The Blossom Music Center is in the middle of the national park and the metro park.
