Nashville Predators

Through the years, ice hockey has become a very popular sport with seemingly countless numbers of loyal fans and sports enthusiasts. The Nashville Predators, based in Nashville, Tennessee, are a professional ice hockey team and currently has membership with the National Hockey League’s Western Conference Central Division. Home games of the team are played at the Bridgestone Arena.

The game of hockey was first played in Middle Tennessee with the presence of the Dixie Flyers of the Eastern Hockey League in 1962. For 9 seasons, the Dixie Flyers has played the game until they folded up permanently in 1971. Ten years later, the owner of the Nashville Sounds, Larry Schmittou, decided to have another go at the Minor Hockey League in Nashville and brought the Nashville South Stars for the season of 1981-1982. This team folded as well after only seasons. In 1989, the ECHL Nashville Knights came to Nashville and eventually moved to Florida and became the Pensacola Ice Pilots. In 1996, Nashville made another attempt to enter into the minor league and created a team known as the Nashville Nighthawks. When the Nashville Predators finally came to town, the Nashville Nighthawks folded as well.

During the 2011 to 2012 season, the Nashville Predators once again made some changes. In 2011, the team finally unveiled their updated logo for the season of 2011-2012. In the latter part of the same year, the Nashville Predators had signed on Pekka Rinne for a 7 year contract. During the first half of 2012, the team had made some further changes with their line up of team members with Alexander Radulov finally returning to the team after four years of being away to play at the KHL. On the 7th of May 2012, the Nashville Predators lost to the Phoenix Coyotes during the Semi Finals at the Western Conference.
