Miami Heat
It can get pretty difficult to determine which basketball team to go for these days but there is no doubt that the Miami Heat have definitely made their mark after the 2012 NBA Championships where they finally nabbed the trophy after defeating the Oklahoma City Thunder, four games to one. Miami Heat is one of two teams that represent the state of Florida, the other one being Orlando Magic. They initially began as an expansion team and first entered the league back in 1988. Since then, however, the team has made their mark as one of the most reputable basketball teams in the NBA. To sum it all up, they have entered the 16 play-offs of the 24 seasons they participated in, won nine division titles, gained three Eastern Conference Championships, and have won two NBA championships. Their first NBA championship victory was in 2006 against the Dallas Mavericks. As of 2010, the team’s estimated value has already marked up to $425 Million.
Miami Heat has seen some ups and downs in their stay in the NBA League. They were very popular during their early years, fighting against their rivals the New York Nicks but it was their rivalry against the Bulls that flashed the spotlight against them. Their rivalry against the Chicago Bulls lasted during the 1990’s yet for three years in a row they were defeated by the said team. This was during the reign of Michael Jordan and for three years the Bulls had consecutively defeated the Heat to win the NBA championship title. After Jordan’s retire the Miami Heat had seen their reputation die out until the mid-2000’s when they formed shifted focus, team members (including Shaquille O’Neal), and management to win the 2006 championship.
Lately, the Miami Heat have seen a new spark as their rivalry with the Bulls has been re-ignited. With the rise of Derrick Rose in Chicago and the Big Three (LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh) signing with the Heat, the two teams have constantly been clashing even up to the 2012 games. The team has already recruited several powerful team players and is on the move to once again dominate the court. If there is any team to look out for in the upcoming seasons, it is Miami Heat.
