The musical Les Miserables is an adaptation of the 1862 classic French novel by Victor Hugo known to be one the best novels during the nineteenth century. As of the present, Les Miserables is considered the world’s second longest running musical just after Fantasticks and Broadway’s third longest running musical. It is also the second longest running show in the West End after the musical The Mousetrap. It already exceeded the ten thousandth mark in its performance last January 2010 at Queen’s Theater in London and also celebrated its 25th Anniversary.
The initial reception of the critics was not positive because they did not like the thought of converting a classic novel into a musical. But the public had a different reception.
