Indiana Pacers
Indiana Pacers is a team of professional ball players that was founded by John and Chuck DeVoe, Richard Tinkham, Bob Collins and Chuck Barnes. They are a member of the National Basketball Association (NBA) that is playing in Eastern Conference, Central Division. The team is based in Indianapolis, Indiana and wows the screaming fans for a hard court basketball exhibit in Bankers Life Fieldhouse. For the first seven years, Indiana Pacers graced basketball fans in the Pepsi Coliseum that was formerly called the Indiana State Fairgrounds but later on moved to Market Square Arena that lasted for 25 long years.
The team started their professional career as a member of the American Basketball Association (ABA) in 1967 and transitioned to NBA less than a decade later. While in ABA, they bagged three titles in the championship match in just a span of four years. In their nine years of stay in ABA, they appeared in the finals for five times, which further sealed their chances of winning big in the NBA. However, it was said that the move to NBA was laden with challenges that made landing in the championship an elusive dream. The rub of elusive winnings only ended in 1987 until the team finally made it to the NBA finals in year 2000 against the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Pacers came back strong the following year after strengthening their ranks with the likes of Ron Artest, Brad Miller, Jermaine O’Neal and others. The two head strong ball players led the Pacers back to the playoffs and gave New Jersey Nets a hard time win. However, the excitement yet very challenging time for the Pacers was the brawl incident between its members and Detroit Pistons players. The brawl led to long suspensions of several star players of Pacers and needless to say, it caused them their good standing in the playoffs. It was just last year, 2011, that they managed to land in the playoff with a promising start to land in the Finals this 2012 with Miles Plumlee and Orlando Johnson in their ranks.
