He becomes the superhero of the fictional city known as Gotham where he was assisted by other characters including his crime-fighting partner Robin, his butler Alfred and the police commissioner Gordon. Throughout the comics he encountered numerous villains such as the Joker, the Penguin, Two-Face, the Riddler, Catwoman and Posion Ivy. Other creators worked on the return of Batman in comics such as Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns and Alan Moore’s Batman: The Killing Joke.
